International Spy Museum

Washington, DC

Client:

MGAC managed the four architectural firms and twenty-three design subconsultants required throughout the design and construction process. MGAC acted as the owner’s daily representative for the 65,000 SF project encompassing the museum, 6,000 SF of retail space, and two restaurants. The project, which included extensive structural renovations across multiple levels of a historic building, required coordination with the District of Columbia Historic Preservation Board and city approval to hoist 007’s Aston Martin though the building’s window. The project met its media deadline, received the AIA Catalyst Award, and hosted over 500,000 visitors its first year.

For this innovative museum, Polysonics provided design services for the interior architectural acoustics, sound reinforcement, walls ceiling and floor acoustic finishes, HVAC noise control and reverberation control to limit noise spill over into adjacent spaces, plus we also created simulated helicopter sound effects for some of the spy exhibits.
