DC Consolidated Forensics Lab

Washington, DC

Client: HOK

Completion Date: 2010

The Consolidated Forensic Laboratory (CFL) is a 287,000-square-foot building consolidating the city’s public safety forensic science and public health efforts into a single world-class, state-of-the-art facility. It will play a vital role in advancing and improving public safety support, homeland security, crime investigation capabilities, and public health and science in the district.

Polysonics’ experience in acoustics for research facilities has allowed us to provide comprehensive architectural acoustics design, HVAC acoustics specifications and vibration design criteria for the CFL. Sensitive equipment within the building can perform inaccurately without the right application of vibration control. In addition to acoustics, Polysonics was also responsible for providing audiovisual systems design for a multipurpose press room, small and large conference rooms, equipment room, wet and dry training rooms all located on the first floor. Additional scope was provided to include a conference room on the third floor, a VTC conference room and operations theater on the sixth floor.
