Since opening in 1971, the Kennedy Center has been presenting the greatest performers and performances from across America and around the world, nurturing new works and young artists, and serving the nation as a leader in arts education. The historic Opera House seats 2,350 for performances of musical theater, ballet, and opera.

Polysonics was selected by Samaha Associates as part of the team responsible for the modernization of nine rehearsal rooms totaling 14,321 square feet. Acoustical interior design, HVAC evaluation for low noise, noise and vibration isolation and plumbing noise were all included in Polysonics scope of work. Design and recommendations for underlayment materials, schedules for walls and floors to assure proper STC and IIC ratings and ceiling design were provided to attain the desired acoustical environment in each space.
